This Cookie Policy explains which cookies the Website uses, what they are for, how long they last and how you can accept them, reject them or change your mind at any time.
2. What a cookie is
A cookie is a very small file that the Website stores in your browser when you visit it. It lets the site remember things from one page to the next: what you have put in your cart, which language you are browsing in, or whether you have already signed in.
Alongside cookies we use equivalent technologies, such as browser local storage and tracking pixels. Everything said here about cookies applies equally to those.
3. Your consent
When you enter the Website from a country where the law requires it, a notice appears where you can accept or reject the cookies that are not essential. Until you accept:
- no analytics or advertising cookie is installed;
- neither Google Tag Manager, nor Google Analytics, nor the Meta pixel is loaded.
Only the cookies strictly necessary for the store to work are installed. These are exempt from consent under article 22.2 of Spanish Act 34/2002 on Information Society Services.
You can change your decision whenever you want: open cookie preferences. You can also delete cookies that are already installed from your browser settings, as explained in section 7.
4. Types of cookies we use
4.1. Necessary (always on)
They let you browse the store, keep your cart, remember the language and the currency, and complete your purchase securely. The Website does not work without them, so they cannot be turned off.
- _shopify_essential — Shopify. Keeps the session, the cart and the security of the store. Duration: 1 year.
- cart_currency — Shopify. Remembers the currency you are shopping in. Duration: 14 days.
- localization — Shopify. Remembers your browsing country and language. Duration: 1 year.
- _shop_app_essential — Shopify (shop.app domain). Enables accelerated checkout with Shop Pay. Duration: 1 year.
- cart — Shopify. Identifies your shopping cart. Duration: 3 months.
During checkout, Shopify also installs temporary session and security cookies, essential to complete the order and prevent fraud.
4.2. Analytics (require your consent)
They tell us how many people visit the store, which pages they look at and where they leave, always in aggregate and never to identify you personally. We use them to fix problems and improve the store.
- _shopify_y, _shopify_s — Shopify. Measure visits and sessions. Duration: 1 year and 30 minutes respectively.
- _shopify_analytics — Shopify. Stores your decision about analytics cookies. Duration: 1 year.
If you accept, Google Tag Manager is loaded and may activate Google Analytics. In that case Google installs the cookies _ga and _ga_<identifier>, which distinguish visitors and sessions and last up to 2 years.
4.3. Advertising (require your consent)
They let us measure how our ads perform and show you Santamadre advertising on other websites and on social networks.
- _fbp — Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. Identifies the browser in order to measure and target Facebook and Instagram ads. Duration: 3 months.
- _gcl_au — Google. Measures which Google ads led to a purchase. Duration: 3 months.
- _shopify_marketing — Shopify. Stores your decision about advertising cookies. Duration: 1 year.
The list may vary slightly depending on the pages you visit, the browser you use and the measurement tools active at any given time. It is reviewed periodically.
5. Who receives the data
Third-party cookies are installed and processed by the following companies, under their own terms:
- Shopify International Ltd., which provides the store platform — privacy policy.
- Google Ireland Ltd., for measurement and advertising (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads) — information about cookies.
- Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd., for measurement and advertising on Facebook and Instagram — cookie policy.
These companies may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, they rely on the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or on an adequacy decision.
6. How long they last
Session cookies are deleted on their own when you close the browser. Persistent ones last as stated in each case, up to a maximum of 24 months, and are renewed if you visit us again. Your decision about cookies is kept for 12 months; after that you are asked again.
7. How to turn them off in your browser
Besides the store notice, you can block or delete cookies from your browser. Bear in mind that if you block the necessary ones, the cart and the checkout will stop working.
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy (on iPhone and iPad: Settings → Apps → Safari → Privacy & Security).
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
Browsers usually also offer a private browsing mode, where cookies are deleted when you close the window.
8. Your rights
You may withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand, and exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability by writing to admin@santamadreco.com. You will find the details in our Privacy Policy.
If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you may lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).
